OK, we're getting ready for the big event - a beach party Celebration of Life for Jenny Gamble. I again wanted to reiterate how much we appreciate all the check-ins and kind words we have been receiving. It's really a testament to all the people who had the pleasure of knowing Jen and we have truly enjoyed hearing from you all - even if I haven't been able to get back to everyone yet.
Please come and share your stories and experiences with Jen! So here are the updates...
Beach Party
The main event will be starting at 3PM at the Yacht Club Beach on Monday 8/12. at 130 Harbor Way, Santa Barbara, CA 93109. The weather has been spectacular the last few days and the forecast looks great. I really recommend taking Uber/Lyft but there will be some limited parking there as well. Here are some things to consider:
Do not wear black, this is a beach party celebration!
Wear beach attire and be as colorful as Jen would have dressed. (no coats, no ties, and it's ok to leave behind shoes for sandals as many of us will be on the beach)
Wigs and costumes encouraged!
Put on some sunscreen.
Bring a sweatshirt or light jacket as it can cool off.
Bring a swimsuit and a towel or plan on just swimming naked (a tradition Jen often embraced)
Music will go into the evening so prepare to dance. We have some great music lined up and the best way to celebrate Jen is to just embrace the fun!
Paddle Out
The paddle out is at 12PM on Sunday 8/11 and meet at Ledbetter Beach. Bring board or rent boards. You can also observe from the beach!
Sunrise Swim
The sunrise swim is at 8AM on Monday 8/12. Meet at the beach in front of Shoreline Cafe.
Sunday Night Cocktails
We have just arranged to have the Pickle Room (formerly Jimmy's) open for a private get together for friends and family from 7PM to 1200AM on Sunday 8/11. All that are in town are welcome. This is one of our favorite bars in town and it will be a great place to connect for many of those that arrive on Sunday. I will be heading there around 830PM after a dinner we are doing with family and intend to stay until close. The Pickle Room is at 126 E. Canon Perdido Street downtown.
For those looking for dinner suggestions nearby here are a few good spots within a block or two of the Pickle Room:
The Pickle Room will not be serving food on Sunday, but anybody getting in late that wants to come straight there can also order food for delivery at the Pickle Room and it's no problem.
And here are some more photos to perhaps provide some inspiration for your attire for the Beach Party!
I loved looking at each of these photos filled with love and laughter ❤️ Linda Racich
